About Nature & Culture International
Conserving Latin America's most diverse yet highly threatened ecosystems and cultures
At Nature & Culture International we strive to conserve Latin America’s most diverse yet highly threatened ecosystems and cultures. Our talented local staff of seasoned conservation professionals uses an effective bottom-up strategy, building close relationships with community stakeholders to most successfully accomplish our conservation objectives.
Since 1997, we’ve helped to establish millions of acres of protected areas in the tropics. We’ve worked closely with the Shuar people of the Amazon to preserve their age-old traditions, and we’ve helped safeguard water supplies for hundreds of thousands of people. We’ve collaborated with some of the poorest communities in the region to help establish sustainable income-generation activities, and we’re empowering new generations of conservationists through our effective environmental education programs.
Amazon rainforests, rich cloud forests and tropical deciduous forests are critically threatened as never before, making targeted conservation initiatives crucial. Through growing programs in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Mexico we are addressing these challenges to our natural world and its life-support systems, and continue to make great strides in the protection of unique ecosystems while simultaneously strengthening local communities.
